Responsibilities:
The Psychology Fellow will be a full time staff member responsible for patient care under the direct supervision of the Sect Chief/Supervising Psychologist in the Northern Regional Diagnostic Center for Child Abuse and Neglect. The fellow will conduct evaluations and treatment in relation to requests for court orders by the Supreme Court - Family Part, Division of Youth and Family Services, Prosecutor''s Offices, the Office of Law and Public Safety as well as through the offices of the Law Guardian and of the Public Defender. The fellow will also have an educative role for psychology externs at the pre-doctoral level this position is responsible for performing the scope of duties and responsibilities listed below in accordance with the American Psychological Association, New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners guidelines and standards set forth by JCAHO. The Psychology Fellow will be required to complete a post-doctoral certificate in forensic psychology in accordance with the standards promoted by Division 41 - Law and Psychology of the APA and by the American Board of Professional Psychology - Forensic Diplomate.
1. Functions as a Forensic Psychology Fellow conducting forensic psychological assessments at the Northern Regional Diagnostic Center for Child Abuse and Neglect.
2. Provides as a Forensic Psychology Fellow individual and group psychotherapy at the Northern Regional Diagnostic Center for Child Abuse and Neglect and advocates for appropriate resources for clients and families based on assessed needs in accordance with professionally accepted standards.
3. Collaborates effectively with other staff members, referral sources and social support networks to provide evaluation and treatments services for clients and families.
4. Serves as a liaison for abuse consultations within the medical center as part of a multidisciplinary response from AHCH.
5. Participates in forensic interviewing training Finding Words NJ for qualification as a child forensic interview specialist.
6. Triages and responds to emergent psychological issues within the center as determined by the Sect Chief/Supervising Psychologist.
7. Assists clients in effectively managing crises.
8. Attends Pediatric and Psychiatry Grand Rounds for on-going and continuing education.
9. Participates in and assists in the organization of statewide training for all disciplines involved in the New Jersey child protection system.
10. Participates in the Regional Child Fatality and Near Fatality Review Board.
11. Observes and participates in expert witness training on cases seen by The Children''s House under the direct supervision of the Sect Chief/Supervising Psychologist in both criminal and civil matters.
12. Participates in State and National organizations that address child abuse and neglect issues and the application of forensic psychology in child maltreatment and family violence.
13. Conducts research in a mutually agreed upon area of interest between The Children''s House and the Psychology Fellow and disseminates research findings within and from the Institute.
14. Obtains Post-Licensure Certificate in Forensic Psychology.

1. Doctoral degree in psychology, with interest in forensic psychology.
2. Psychology internship with a training emphasis in clinical/child or clinical/adult areas.

1. Doctoral degree in psychology with significant training in child or family psychology.
2. Forensic psychology internship.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Eligible for Psychologist license or permit in the State of New Jersey.
